COERR Mae Sot Organized Basic Counselling Training to Camp Based Refugee Staff (CBRS) at Ban Mae La Temporary Shelter in Tha Song Yang District, Tak Province, on March 21-22, 2023, in which 51 personnel of 48 females and 3 males attended.

   The aim was to equip the CBRS with basic counselling skills so that they could help those who suffer from trauma to change their mindset or behavior in order to improve the quality of life, promote decision making capacity, enhance problem solving skills and ability to overcome obstacles.

   The training procedure consisted of presentation and lecture, practice relating to the contents, brainstorming and comments, questions and answers, summary of the contents, pretest and posttest to measure trainees’ growth in the knowledge they have learned.

   The contents of this training were Basic Principles of Counselling; Counselling Skills; Active Listening and Deep Listening; Qualification of a counsellor; Roleplay on being a counselor using all contents and steps learned; Presentation and lecture on basic trauma counselling; The meaning of trauma: Causes and risk factors, Kinds of traumatic events; Learn about Self-Care, i.e. Physical, Mental, Emotional and also Spiritual Self-care.
